Argentine Big Game & Wing Shooting — Argentina

Hunting this ground with Huntica

Argentina is a hunter's paradise — a country where the scale of the landscape matches the generosity of the hospitality. From the snow-capped Andes of Patagonia to the endless pampas and the subtropical wetlands of the north, Argentina offers a diversity of hunting that few countries can match.

For big game hunters, Argentina's red stag roar — the rut season in March and April — is one of the world's great hunting events. For wing shooters, the high-volume dove and pigeon shooting in Córdoba and Buenos Aires Province is legendary, with daily bag counts that are unmatched anywhere.

What makes Argentina special for Huntica is the complete experience: exceptional hunting combined with world-class food, wine, and a culture of hospitality that aligns perfectly with the Huntica ethos.

Species and seasons

Big Game:

  • Red Stag — the premier Argentine big game species; the roar season (March–April) offers extraordinary hunting
  • Water Buffalo — large, dangerous, and challenging; found in the subtropical north
  • Blackbuck — beautiful spiral-horned antelope on the open pampas
  • Wild Boar — found across multiple regions; driven or stalked
  • Axis Deer — spotted deer in forested terrain

Wing Shooting:

  • Dove — high-volume shooting in agricultural areas; the world's premier dove destination
  • Duck — decoyed shooting on wetlands and flooded fields
  • Pigeon — similar format to dove with different flight patterns and field settings

Red Stag roar runs mid-March to late April. Wing shooting peaks April through August. Argentina's southern hemisphere seasons make it a perfect counter-seasonal complement to African and European hunting.

How we host you here

Argentine hunts are led by Alex or Rasmus, with groups of 4–8 hunters for Hosted and Brotherhood trips, and 1–3 for Bespoke. The social nature of Argentine culture — long meals, fine wine, the tradition of sobremesa — makes this a natural Huntica Hosted destination where evenings matter as much as hunting days.

Your Huntica host coordinates with local outfitters and guides, manages daily rotation between hunting pairings, and ensures the cultural experience (food, wine, estancia life) is as deliberate and rewarding as the hunting itself.

Practical details

  • Travel: International flights to Buenos Aires (EZE). Domestic connections to Córdoba, Neuquén, Mendoza, or Resistencia depending on hunting area. Transfer: 1–5 hours by vehicle from regional airports.
  • Accommodation: Argentine estancias range from traditional ranch houses to premium lodges with pools, wine cellars, and professional kitchens.
  • Food and wine: Meals built around asado (Argentine barbecue), empanadas, local wines, and the social tradition of sobremesa — the long, leisurely conversation after a meal.
  • Weather: March–April (stag season): 10–25°C, mild autumn. April–August (wing shooting): 5–20°C, variable.
  • Hunting methods: Spot and stalk for red stag during the roar, using sound to locate bulls. High-volume field shooting for dove/pigeon from guided stations.
