Sierra de Andújar — El Encinarejo, Spain
Hunting this ground with Huntica
El Encinarejo sits in the heart of the Sierra de Andújar in Andalucía — one of Spain’s most iconic hunting regions, and one of the very few places where you literally wake up inside your hunting area. The lodge is built into the mountainside with panoramic views over the valley and the famous monastery of Virgen de la Cabeza.
From this base, you hunt Iberian Red Deer, Fallow Deer, and Wild Boar across more than 5,000 hectares of prime hunting territory, and can extend into some of Spain’s best mountain areas for Ibex, Chamois, and Arrui. It’s a blend of true hunting and high-comfort lodge life that works just as well for serious hunters as it does for couples or mixed groups.
Species and seasons
From El Encinarejo and its associated areas, you can access:
- Iberian Red Deer
- Fallow Deer
- Wild Boar
- Spanish Ibex (different sub-species in other regions)
- Chamois
- Arrui (Barbary Sheep)
Core driven and stalking seasons for Red Deer, Fallow, and Boar run autumn through winter, while mountain hunts for Ibex and other species can be scheduled across tailored windows depending on sub-species and rut timing.
How we host you here
Huntica uses El Encinarejo as a hosted base in Spain: a Huntica host is with you from arrival to departure, coordinating close collaboration with the local outfitter team that manages the finca and associated mountain territories.
Your experience is designed by the hour — from the first morning glassing session right outside the lodge, to long lunches, mid-day rests, and evenings at the bar or by the fireplace. For Brotherhood-style trips, we structure the days around both hunting and meaningful time together at the lodge, on the deck, or by the pool in warmer months.
Why this is Huntica Approved Ground
El Encinarejo is more than a lodge — it’s a working wildlife reserve with thousands of hectares of managed hunting territory, operated by a family-run outfitter that also guides across Spain and Africa.
Before adding it to the Huntica portfolio, our founders hunted this ground themselves and vetted:
- Game quality and free-range character of the hunts.
- Standards of animal management and ethics.
- Consistency of service at the lodge, from guides to kitchen.
Because the lodge sits inside the hunting area, we can ensure your time is spent in the field, not in transit — a key standard for Huntica Approved Ground.
